January 31, 2007 ~ Tyler get's Multi Motor For Next Round
Tyler's PMP chassis receives new R6 Multi - power for next
time he runs the Mini-Sprint. There won't be any power
shortage for Tyler when running against the best in the Multi
Division.
Tyler's power plant is the best there is to offer.
Watch for Tyler to start making some real noise in the
mini-sprint Multi Division real soon!
Best in Class Chassis and best in Class Power!
January 21, 2007 ~ DuQuoin Update
Race time update:
Tyler after not being able to hold anything down for hours,
fought his way out of bed and to the track.
Once at the track, between visits to the trash can he hit
the track to do what he loves...Race!
But with even all that heart, he was only able to go
through practice and the first heat race.
In practice, Tyler was very fast looking like he was going
to have no problem coming from behind and possibly winning as he was
passing the cars in front of him with some great moves.
Cross-over's and cut backs or just flat moving under them and moving
them up the track as Tyler went by.
In his heat after being sick again and suffering from the
chills, Tyler started 4th row outside and was quickly up to fourth
working on third. Tyler was making the outside groove work as he
attempted to complete the pass. After two laps outside and working
it very hard, Tyler wasn't able to complete the pass, as he
had to fall back he slid back two spots. Tyler didn't give up
and almost made the pass back by both the drivers in front of him
before the checker. Tyler was spent physically went he came off the
track.
Tyler had a better starting spot for the B-main that the
first day, but couldn't make the call due to the flu symptoms.
Personally, I would have stayed home in bed but not Tyler..,
He loves to race anywhere anytime. He'll be back to DuQuoin
and we'll soon be up front.
Tyler really wishes to thank everyone at the DuQuoin track
for everything. Everyone was very nice! Tommy and Kenny,
thank you so muck for great racing conditions and also for letting
me have the back room to rest and stay warm.
See you again
soon!
Tyler
Morning update:
Tyler has come down with the Flu and being able to continue
today is very questionable.
Tyler is currently trying to keep fluids down and taking
Motrin to attempt to reduce fever.
It's currently 11:30 am DuQuoin time and we have to be at
the track at 1:00 pm for hot laps at 2:00 pm.
Tyler's chances of racing today are very slim.
I'll update again later.

January
20, 2007 ~ DuQuoin Update Powri O'Riley "Winter Nationals"
With nearly 70 Multi Mini Sprints
showing up for the DuQuoin "Winter Nationals" Tyler went to work to
do his best to take on these boys from around the Mid-West!
The Powri O'Riley Auto Parts Series
has a strong hold on most of the Mid West Mini Sprint racing over
the summer. They have many races at several different tracks.
Tyler will make some of those up coming races this summer during the
months of July and August.
Here at DuQuoin the the race format
is pretty much a ditto of the Tulsa Shootout and Chili Bowl races
just the last two weeks at Tulsa Oklahoma. Pill draw and
passing points to position you either directly into the A-main or in
other races to get back to the A-main.
Tyler drew a 54 in the pill draw
giving him a 3rd row outside start in his heat. This race is
full on Multi's and Tyler is having to run his stock R6 Yamaha up
against these guys. Thank you Gordan for a motor that rocks as I
didn't detect any loss of power against these other 636 cc verses
Tyler's 600cc.
Starting from the 3rd row outside,
Tyler quickly was up to 4th place and looked like he was heading for
2nd. Tyler successfully made the pass on the bottom to take
over 3rd place but the yellow flew and negated Tyler's pass.
As I have seen so many times, once you show your hand to another
driver the second pass gets even harder. After making the pass
on the bottom the driver in front of Tyler wouldn't make the same
mistake again. He continued to hug the bottom and Tyler was
starting to get pressure from behind. While trying to find
away past the car in front of him Tyler gave up his spot finishing
5th.
Had he been able to keep his pass,
Tyler would have been seeded directly into the A-main.
Having to start one of the B-mains
in the 5th row inside, Tyler again went to work making some great
cross-over moves to complete passes, on yellows Tyler was to much
the GENTLEMAN and allowed a couple other drivers to advance on the
yellows when they should not have.
Tyler finished the B-main in the
10th position which would equate to a 35th place finish against
these guys tonight. With there being nearly 70 of them and
Tyler having to run a stocker motor against Multi's, I think Tyler
did very well.
Tyler looks to do better tomorrow
night in round 2 of the "Winter Nationals" here at DuQuoin.
Tyler thanks the Girls that had him
autograph their shirts, that's always fun!
Check back tomorrow for an update..
January 19, 2007 ~ DuQuoin Winter
Nationals
After several days of travel through
some pretty cold winter conditions, Tyler and crew arrived in
DuQuoin.

The trip had several surprises along the way. One was the very cold
temperatures all along the route in Wyoming. Conditions would
be at times zero visibility caused by blowing snow and the potential
for slick spots. Those two things and add high winds pulling a
stacker trailer and one would need to be very careful going across
the the divides.
We found one trucker in the ditch
after he apparently lost sight of the road. There wasn't any
ice where he left the road.
I didn't want to find us in that
position with the outside temperature at 1 degree and the winds at
20 mph. Not the time to make any mistakes.
We did have a tail wind the entire
way here. It help us make time being able to move out at about
78 mph most the time.
If you race something with a cooling
system, make certain that you have anti-freeze in the system.
I had to battle our motor freezing up as I was not clear on that we
didn't have any anti-freeze in the system. Most promoters
don't want coolant in your systems as it make a slick mess when you
wreck.
After several days, Tyler made it
back to DuQuoin for his first mini-sprint race here.
Car's are starting to pile in and get
their pit spots. We are in the main building thanks to Kenny
Brown.
More information will be posted here
each night as racing begins tomorrow.
Two days - Two complete different
races with two purses.
December 28th, 2006 ~ Tulsa
Shootout
In just very
short order, Tyler's desires to run the Tulsa Shootout became a
reality.
Stan Yockey
of PMP Chassis was quick to help the young Outlaw Kart Racing Star
with putting together a complete 600 mini-sprint to run the Tulsa
Shootout.
Stan and
crew put together in a short 10 days a complete assembly for Tyler
to take to Tulsa.
Arriving at the Tulsa
Shootout with no racing time in a Mini Sprint, it would be up to
Tyler to challenge the top stars from around the country at their
game.
Tyler
Reddick Racing departed on Christmas day to make the 1878 mile trip
from California to Tulsa Oklahoma. Arriving on Wednesday morning at
the Tulsa Expo, we waited the entire day to get inside to our pit
spot. With over a thousand entries for this event pit space was at
a premium.
In the first
heat of the mini sprint "A" division Tyler would start last in field
of 8. Passing points to be awarded for all passes based on starting
and finishing order. Starting line ups were based on pill draw.
Tyler drew
for both the division a 118 & 78. This would put him well back in
the initial line ups. Tyler would be racing both the Non-wing and
the "A" division.
Danny
Losowski was here racing in the Multi Division. We put Tyler out in
a practice set against the multi's and he held his position without
getting passed. He was actually closing in on the driver in front
of him during the session. The only difference in the multi verses
the "A" division is that the motor is outlaw rules and you can run
any wing size. All Weights and tires rules apply equally across the
two divisions.
Starting
last in the non wing Tyler moved up to 4th before getting a little
high on the last lap letting a car he just passed back by at the
checker. The great thing in this race was that Tyler coming from
last and passing other cars was able to catch the front running
group of 4. There they were all mixing it up pretty good.
In the Mini
Sprint 600 "A" Tyler would start inside 3rd row and finished 3rd.
Tomorrow
Tyler has scheduled at least four races as he has to run two
qualifiers of which additional points will be earned to determine
Main event starting positions.
Each
division Tyler is running has over 100 entries. We'll have to wait
until tomorrow to find out who will make the A mains straight up.
Hopefully
some more good news tomorrow!
December 29th,
2006 ~ Tulsa Shootout Day two
As day two
arrived, the doors opened at 8:00 a.m. with everyone could be found
checking out the pit board to discover what the first days racing
had earned them and what their next race would be.
The race
format would continue to unfold for us as we didn’t have much of an
idea as to how the entire show was going to be run being our first
time ever to the Tulsa Shootout. We knew there was going to be
passing points awarded but did now just how many or what each
finishing position would score.
As it turns
out, heats race finishes would net points as follows. First would
receive 55 points, 2nd 52 points, 3rd 49
points etc. Passing points would be 1.5 points per position.
The top 16
points earners from the first heats would be locked into the A –
Feature automatically. The rest would need to race their way in by
running a series of additional races slowly eliminating drivers.
Winners and top finishers would move on and the rest would be done.
So the
schedule would look somewhat like this:
Heat race (if not top 16 points earner
then on to next race below) 8 – 9 cars, 8 laps
C main (one of the 9 C main
events with only the top 3 moving on) 12 cars, 12 laps
A - Main qualifier (only one race here with
top 8 finishers moving on to the A – Feature) 16 cars, 20 laps
Feature Event (24 cars, 20 laps)
Tyler had
finishes that constantly kept him in contention and moving him along
in the race format. Tyler relying on his Outlaw Karting experience
propelled him past drivers in his heats and mains.
Tyler found
that we had the right stuff for when the track got slicked off on
the bottom and could use his strengths of railing the top grove to
drive passed cars in front of him. Tyler mixed it up well to get
all he could gain in each race.
Tyler and
his PMP Chassis were entered into both the “A” Wing Mini Sprint and
the Non – Wing divisions. So we were constantly making chassis
changes between each segment of the race format to change the car
from one division to the other.
We had
settled in on a setup that would be a good combination for both
divisions but not the perfect in either as just too many changes
would be necessary.
In the first
race of the day, Tyler would start in the C – Main (Non-wing) in the
3rd row outside. After a series of 3 restarts, Tyler had
seen himself come out of the initial starts as good as 3rd
and as poor as 6th. In the 2nd start attempt
the car in front of Tyler caught the lip of the top groove and
flipped going over the top of Tyler’s car. When it landed it made
contact with Tyler’s right rear. The contact bent the rear end
assembly and flattened the right rear tire. There really isn’t
anything good that comes out of contact, but Tyler was able to
continue and on the restart came out as good as 4th and
finished 6th. None the less, Tyler’s quest to move on
would halt in the Non Wind division.
With damage
on the car, we quickly assessed the situation and proceeded to
change out the rear end. This needed to be done quickly as Tyler
would be back up for his second race.
Not only
would the repairs need to be made but the chassis changes and
putting back on both wings were all necessary to get the car ready.
With repairs
and changes made, Tyler made answered the call and started the “A”
Wing C-main in the 2nd row inside position. After a poor
start, Tyler quickly moved up to the top groove. After falling to 5th,
Tyler started reeling in the cars in front of him. First he closed
in on 4th, then 3rd and finally 2nd.
Once in 2nd, Tyler started to run down the leader. Tyler
never passed the leader but it put him in the transfer position for
the next race.
A – Main
qualifier would see 16 starters with the top 8 finishers moving on
to join the previously locked in 16 drivers for the main feature.
Tyler would start on the 7th row outside based on
finishes to this point. After hours of waiting and being told that
there would be no track complete re-work, we looked forward to
having a track that would be slicked off and to our liking.
Once in line
in staging, track workers went to work and re-worked the entire
track. That was what I originally expected them to do but was told
they were not going to because of time. We were told they would
have to get by with just water and light packing.
So we sat in
line with a car setup for a dry slick track and were given a hooked
up tacky track. Unfortunately for Tyler, this caught his crew chief
off guard and basically took Tyler out of contention before his
event started.
These cars
do not have power steering and for a little guy like Tyler it’s near
impossible to wrestle one of these around a hooked up track if you
car is too tight.
Starting the
race the track did have just a very slight amount slickness during
the initial couple of laps, but as they ran the track just continued
to hook up and the worse it got for Tyler.
Tyler felt
very confident going in that his was going to pass the needed cars
to make it to his very first A - main feature at the Tulsa
Shootout. With the setup on the car it just wasn’t in the cards.
But for
Tyler to make it pass so many drivers and to have never even race a
Mini Sprint before was exceptionally impressive!
Tyler comes
home in the top twenties with a 28 place finish in the Wing "A"
divison. Really good considering 110 starting entries.
He had
finishes of 5th, 3rd,
6th
, 2nd (nearly a win) and 14th.
Outstanding runs against drivers that having been racing Mini
Sprints. Not to mention that Tyler was the only 11 year old in the
field competing against drivers like Stan Yockey, Jarrod Wilson,
Donnie Crawford and others.
Great Job by
Tyler and crew! Next year we’ll be real ready for them.
Tyler wishes
to thank Stan Yockey and Darren for all their help and assistance to
our program. Without them we wouldn’t have stood as much chance of
having such a great run.

Rock!
Dec. 2, 2006 ~ Red Bluff
Outlaws
Round #5 of the Red Bluff
Outlaw this last week saw Tyler qualify 10th, win his heat and
finish 3rd in the Main event.
One must wonder the value
of RBO for an up and coming driver. You go to the track with
the gates opening at 10:00 am, sit around until 2:30 to run one
round of laps that makes up both your practice and qualifying effort
for the day (5 laps ), run 1 heat race of 12 laps, then wait until
6:30 pm or later to run one main event of 20 laps.
37 laps in a day just
doesn't cut it! Most have way
too much time invested to spend at least one day a week getting
ready to go ( kart maint, trailer and supplies etc. ) then one full
day at the race track to get some scant 37 laps of single-groove
yellow-flag racing.
At Red Bluff you can't run
more than one class a night, no multi-divisional racing. Just
who is the racing for? The racer or the Promoter!
Tyler will be in attendance
at Lakeport's next indoor round and will bounce back to Red Bluff
for a couple of races.
Don't take this wrong, we
enjoy Red Bluff and all it's participants, just want more seat time
for the buck and effort!
Nov. 25, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway - Tyler
takes 2 Wins!
The turkey day race went
down with awesome track and weather conditions. The race
format would be straight up based on qualifying and heat races.
Taking to the track in both
his 250 and 576 KTM's, Tyler would make his claim for both fast time
honors in the Intermediate and Open divisions.
Setting fast time in both
divisions put Tyler on the poles for both the heat races.
Tyler took the 250 completely uncontested. In the Open
division, Tyler was sporting a new car just assembled this morning
prior to leaving for Cycleland. Set-ups were not perfect which
led to Tyler spinning on the last lap while trying to regain first.
Restarting last in the heat
with one lap to go, Tyler was relegated to having to start last in
the Open main event.
In the 250 division main
event, Tyler
showed his stuff as he lapped the entire field taking the win in
smoking fast fashion. His car was perfect and extremely fast!
It was a show!
In the Open division
starting from last with a different setup, Tyler made his way to 6th
in just a few quick laps. With a few more laps Tyler was out front
and in control taking the win, his second main of the night.
Tyler was one race from
being perfect in two divisions. He did pull off the sweep in
the 250 division.
The track had both grooves
working and excellent racing conditions held up all night.
Video will be posted Sunday
or later in the week depending on time. Keep checking back in
the video gallery.
Put the "Turkey Day Race" on
your schedule for next year!
Tyler Thanks Lowell and
Cycleland crew and a really big "Thanks to his FANS!"
Nov. 24, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway Turkey Day
Race!
This Saturday at 2:00 pm
hot-laps will begin and racing to follow as Cycleland Speedway's
"Turkey Day" race is on.
Be there..!!
Nov. 18,
2006 ~ RBO update
Tyler after being off a
week to go to the "Western World Championships" returned to RBO to
pick up where he left off.
Tyler put down the 2nd
qualifying lap in time trials and would see the heats be a full
invert.
The track conditions were
excellent all night causing Tyler's SKE/BRE Factory Kart to be a
little on the tight side the entire evening. By main event
time Tyler coming from the back through traffic still managed to put
down the 2nd fastest lap in the Main. Tyler finished 4th and
moved up one position in the points standings to 4th.
Tyler is confident we can
get to 2nd in the series, but catching the red-hot 14 year old Keith
Bloom is going to be a real challenge!
But Tyler welcomes a race
anytime when you can run with the very best! So he'll just
keep bringing it on and see what happens. It's a long series
and anything can happen.
Congratulations to Keith on
winning his 2nd A-main this season at Red Bluff Outlaws.
Nov. 11, 2006 ~ Sean Martin
subs for Tyler
Tyler wishes to thank the
Martin family for substituting for Tyler this 3rd round of the RBO
Winter Series.
Special thanks to Sean on
doing an awesome job !
Sean brought home a 5th
place finish in the main event after having to come form the B-main.
Sean drove up through the field to help Tyler score!
"Thanks Sean!, Sean
Rocks...!"
Nov. 11, 2006 ~ Kruseman and
Wise Win at Manzanita Speedway "Western World Championships"!
Awesome, awesome show is
the only way to describe the Western World Championship held at the
Famous Manzanita Speedway.
Josh Wise driving the Tony
Stewart Mopar powered 410 cruised off to victory and Cory Kruseman
driving an Ellis 360 charged to his 2nd Western championship this
last Saturday night.
The USAC 410 race was
the distance of 40 laps around Manzy's 1/2 mile making the distance
some 20 miles. There were only 2 yellows, one coming on the
opening lap and one at the very end. Both Cory Kruseman and
Josh Wise were in control of the race early on and really never
looked back. Bob Ream was up at the front of the 360's main
with what I believe was a 3rd place finish. 14 year old Chad
Boat finished in the top ten.
If you've never been to the
Western you need to put this trip on your schedule. You can
add to it the NASCAR Bush and Nextel Cup races to make your race
weekend one you won't ever forget.
Weather was great with lots to
do and it's not that far away.
Stewart, Leffler, Kahne and
Yeley were all on hand in the pits. Great place and great racing for
3 full days.
If you have a motor-home you
can stay out at PIR with lot's of activities going on there
every night as well.
Congratulations!
Josh Wise Cory
Kruseman

Nov. 10, 2006 ~ Tyler starting to make
Phoenix second home...
With the Western in town at Phoenix along
with all the NASCAR series as well, it was hard to pass up the chance to
return to Phoenix to check out all the racing.

Fortunately Sean Martin was available to
fill in for Tyler at the Red Bluff Outlaws this weekend as Dad made a
quick change of plans for the weekend. In just a few short
hours Tyler and Dad arrived in the action packed city of Phoenix to rub
shoulders with all the top dogs in open-wheel racing.

USAC was in town as well for the final
round of their series. So all the top names in Non-wing Sprints
are here to put on a great show. Levi Jones, Josh Wise, Tracy
Hines, the "Kruser" Cory Kruseman, Brad Sweet, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne,
Jason Leffler, JJ Yeley and others all on hand in the pits.

What a show! You must put this on your
schedule of must do's for next year.
Tomorrow night is the final for the WESTERN
and I will post an update later.

Nov. 04, 2006 ~ RBO Round #2
With all the changes taking place this year
at the Red Bluff Outlaws, Tyler Reddick Racing has made a change in our
normal race strategy.
This RBO Series Tyler has committed himself
to just working hard on "Charging Hard" to the front with less regard
for points in the series.
After practice day it was clear that we
needed to make a change in our choice of frames for the Red Bluff
Series.
With changes made and a car that can run
anywhere on the track Tyler has what is needed to accomplish his goals for
this run at RBO.
Week one saw us bring in a new chassis and
start from scratch. After the first night of racing I was certain
we were very close to being dialed in for setup. Round #2 would
give us the first real read on how good this new frame would be.
FAST TIME 8.84 Paced all
divisions with the fastest lap in qualifying
Tyler put on a nice show running very strong
all night coming from the back as the normal format for the 250 division
this year is a full invert in
heats and dashes. Finishing 2nd in his heat and 3rd in the dash to
Bloom 2nd and poll sitter Bartlett finishing 1st.
In the main Tyler worked his way to 3rd and
ran there for most of the main event. Working on Mittry, Tyler in
the closing laps made an inside move for second. Diving to the
bottom Tyler's left front wheel hit a bump on the lower berm causing the
front of the kart to lift up and climb over Mittry left nerf bar tying
both up and taking them to the back. On the restart with just a
couple laps remaining Tyler moved up to about 10th or 11th.
Tyler had fun as friend and Co-racing SKE
driver Reilly Gillingwater was on hand sharing our pit. Reilly had
a good night and progress was made in improving his kart setup.
Reilly made up to a transfer position before spinning late in the
B-main.
Video's have been added the Tyler's video
gallery..., so check them out!
Oct.21, 2006 ~ RBO Practice day
With the Red Bluff Outlaws winter series
about to get under way, drivers took to the track with a chance to make
set-up changes to prepare for what's to come.
The drivers are many with expectations of a
future RBO Championship to call their own.
So as they stack the house, air their tires
and fuel their tanks.....who we'll be the next years Champions at RBO?
As Tyler settled in on RBO many chassis
changes were in order as out of the box the car was not near enough to
turn better than 11th fast in the first set.
By nights end we settled in with the 2nd
fastest time.
I hope everyone has fun and good luck!

Tyler Reddick and Cory "the Kruser" Kruseman at
Manzanita Speedway
Oct. 16 & 17, 2006 ~ Tyler meets Cory
Kruseman
Tyler made the long trip back to Phoenix
Arizona to spend two days with 2 time Chili Bowl Champ and professional
driving school owner operator Cory Kruseman. Cory's racing
achievements are many. Some of which are: NON-WINGED WORLD
CHAMPION, SCRA CHAMPION, 2 TIME USAC INDIANA SPRINT WEEK CHAMPION. One
should visit his website and check out his school and get down there to
take a course, as I would guarantee it will be worth it!
www.kruseman.com
Cory's extremely pleasant demeanor over the
phone was reinforced when Tyler met him in person. Cory is a very
talented communicator and a first-rate instructor.
Cory came recommended by Danny Stratton as
another great choice of mentors for the young talented driver.
After conferring with Cory, it was a clear choice for the next person
who would assist Tyler in making the right steps in his midget.
After supplying Cory with hours of video of
Tyler's racing over the years, Cory was ready to get started with the
young driver.
Cory put Tyler through the paces on the
opening night as he quickly had Tyler on the track knocking out laps and
sizing Tyler up. Cory had Tyler run some 180 laps in less than 3
hours on Monday night
at Manzanita. As though to test Tyler's stamina and see just what
Tyler's desires are.
During the opening laps of practice Cory
made a few comments like "he's not afraid of it!" and "he stands
on it!". By the nights end I sat with Cory to review and Cory
stated that he was impressed with Tyler.
On Tuesday night I asked Mike Burckhart to
come out with a good driver to help evaluate Tyler's performance in the
midget at Manzanita. We needed a proven vet to establish the
racing pace to help determine exactly how Tyler was doing. Mike came with R.J. Johnson
and the practice was on..
R.J. Johnson has a very extensive racing
background and can win at even the biggest of shows. He's currently racing
the Sprint Bandits series and as of the last standings I could find is
in 9th in the series. The Series has the following drivers and more I
will not list. This is their current standing and points position:

Going in we made chassis changes in every
corner of the midget and added a new heel stop for Tyler's braking foot.
Cory was really focusing in on making Tyler even more comfortable in the
midget. Cory was teaching Tyler the need for the brake as a
driving technique for making the midget get around the track on the
bottom.
In addition to all the set-up changes we had
a load of maintenance on our hands as our midget had seen the equivalent
of 4 races the night before. As I rolled the car out of the
trailer Tuesday morning I discovered that we about lost the motor as the
timing belt was nearly gone. Having to run down parts, Mike Burckhart again had to assist us by giving up some spare parts from his
trailer. Thanks Mike!
While I was scrambling all day getting the
midget back to race condition I forgot to charge the battery. As
we put Tyler out in the first set with R.J. Johnson as they went green
Tyler's midget just sputtered.
After charging the battery we re-engaged
R.J. Johnson on the track for the second practice set. Tyler
positioned himself about half a straightaway back from R.J. At the
end of the practice set Tyler was only about a full straightaway
behind the talented R.J. Johnson.
If you haven't been to Manzanita Speedway
you're missing a very fast 3/8ths mile track. The Midgets enter the
turns sideways after coming down the shoot at 90 miles per hour or
better. This is really something to watch!
We were getting ready for the next practice
set while Cory was reviewing Tyler's effort and giving new instructions
for the next set. After a quick couple of setup changes Tyler was
back out on the track and this time would start out behind Jay Ervine.
You can visit Jay's website at
www.jayervineracing.com. Tyler
started a few car lengths behind Jay but was quickly up on him racing to
get by. Tyler on the first lap pulled beside Jay but didn't
want to push the pass as Tyler hadn't spent anytime beside another
midget. Tyler dogged Jay for the next 3 laps and demonstrated his
ability to run just off Jay's bumper in full control. It was
actually a better display of Tyler's car control to stay right behind
Jay and adjust to Jay's pace as Jay would check up or move around on the
track.
The last set of the night Tyler was the only
car on the track as R.J. Johnson had loaded up both the 410 non-winged
sprint and the midget and headed home. R.J. was the fastest there
in both the two cars. Having Tyler run against him really gave us
a good picture of Tyler's skill level.
At nights end I sat with Cory again to
review the days work and settle up with Cory. First I wish to
Thank Cory for coming out and working with Tyler.
Thank
You! Cory you're AWESOME!
The review had statements by Cory like "I'm
Very Impressed!" and "Tyler obviously loves it!", he added that Tyler
was pretty much staying with R.J. and that was a statement in itself.
Cory told me that Tyler was ready to race at both Manzanita & the Chili
Bowl and would help anyway he could. He also added that he never
would have believed that someone Tyler's age could do this. Tyler
is very far ahead and we should work very hard to keep up with him.
Tyler wishes to thank everyone that helped
us on this trip:

Oct. 07, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway 100
lap season finale
Tyler Wins two
Back - to - Back !
With Cycleland Speedway's point series
over and Awards night at hand, Cycleland holds it prestigious 100 lap
main events for those tough enough to go it.
Tyler would be running both the 250 division as
well as the Open Outlaw division for this event. This would place
Tyler in back-to-back races for over 200 laps.
The Open Outlaw division is run for this event
with the Open-Intermediate and Sportsman's classes all combined.
The main event for the Open Division would see 28 karts take the green.
With Tyler's qualifying efforts out of the way,
2nd in 250 and 4th in Open, it was off to the races. Tyler's game
plan was set from the beginning with the idea of just riding around and
staying out any trouble before getting to the last 30 laps.
In the 250 division, Tyler ran most of the race
in 2nd position waiting for the final laps to make any move. Prior
to reaching that point, the race leader spun giving Tyler the lead.
Tyler would never look back as he ran off to the victory!
In the Open Outlaw division race things went a
little different. I guess it was still as per our plan but in the
final pit stop at 35 to go, Tyler's kart was badly in need of a tire
change. We had planned on being in a position to just push Tyler
through to the lead, but the tire change put us to work with a little
different strategy for the run to the end.
Tyler came into the pit stop running first even
while just cruising, waiting for the last 35 laps to pour it on.., After changing the right rear tire and fueling
the kart we pushed Tyler to the line in what ended up being the 9th
position. Tyler would restart after leading in the 9th position
and would need to drive up through the field it he was going to make it
win number 2.
Tyler asked me if he could push it yet? I
told him it was time and to pour it on! It wasn't just a few quick
laps and Tyler was up front making the pass for 2nd and at the same time
something went wrong on Bloom's kart. Tyler was coming regardless
as it was all Tyler on this night. When they restarted the field
Tyler pulled away lapping the field and taking his 2nd 100 lap win of
the night. Some other notables had to retire due to failures.
Tyler was unaware of the other drivers going out as they were behind him
when they broke. Only during the last 35 lap segment did Tyler
become aware of who was still left in the running as he put those
remaining 3 laps down.
After the last pit stop Tyler took it up a
couple notches to take the win as last year he finished 3rd running his
250 under powered machine behind Larson running 2nd and last years
winner John Bunch. Tyler was not going to be run down in this
years 100 lapper by anyone on or off the track. He was
un-stoppable!
After 200 laps of back-to-back racing little
Tyler was still the strongest on the track. I have stressed
conditioning, patience, excellent race equipment and skill as the package
that Tyler needs to take him into the future.
After the race Tyler commented that,
"This makes
me feel better, last week I was a full .3 faster than the entire Open-Intermediate division while I was out front running away!, then we lost
the chain and what should of been a Perpetual Trophy win in the bag fell
right out the bottom". "I feel much better now getting both the 100
lapper's here at Cycleland Speedway!".
Congratulations Tyler!
Tyler thanks all his friends and sponsors for
supporting him this Cycleland Speedway Season! The support and
friendship of everyone is very appreciated! Shown above is Tyler
with his special friends Alissa Gevings and Jon, Kaleb Loba from Broken
Bow Records Nashville TN.
Sally Long made her retirement from announcing kart
racing this last weekend at Cycleland Speedway. Sally has for 15
yrs told the story of all our kids and their racing efforts.
Sally will be missed dearly as replacing her
efforts will be very tough! Maybe we'll get very lucky that someday
she'll have the time available to visit us at the track, bringing her
announcing experience back to Cycleland.
Thanks Sally!
Video will be posted as soon as they can be cut
from camera to website. Keep checking back in the video gallery.
Sept. 30, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway QRC Cup
With the points season basically over at Cycleland the QRC cup was on
with the winners getting the big 6 foot trophies.
Tyler had his goals in mind and was well on his way to having a great
night. It started with Tyler setting a new track record in the
125/250 division at a pace of 10.3. The qualifying efforts hadn't
ever seen a time below 10.579 before in this division back to a few
years ago set by Rudger Worley. Since that time the division has
seen superstar Kyle Larson come through along with others. Tyler
is the first to break and set a new track record in this division for
some time. The time is very close to what was the Open division
record of 10.1.
Moving quickly to racing, Tyler won his heat in the
Open-Intermediate
division and would sit on the pole for the main event.
In the 250 division he finished 3rd in the dash and would start the
main from the inside 4th row.
In the mains, things started okay, but quickly went wrong for the hot
young driver. The 250 division saw a wreck happen in turn 2
collecting Tyler and he would have to restart 3rd from last.
Tyler quickly went to work and in 1 lap passed 6 drivers, by the
closing laps he was back in position to make it interesting. With
6 laps to go the rear motor mount failed as result of the earlier crash
and caused Tyler to retire early as he coasted to a stop.
In the Open-Intermediate class Tyler from the start showed that it was
his race to win. Tyler ran away leaving the entire field behind in
just a very quick 2 laps. With a very early red, the field was
reset and Tyler again blasted away from the field by lap 6 it was clear
that Tyler was in full control of this race and on his way to a win.
Unfortunately, trouble would strike again and Tyler coasted to yet
another stop as the drive chain failed leaving Tyler upset as this race
got away.
Tyler's laps were a full 3 tenths of a second faster than that of the
next fastest driver in the main event. Even at events end, no other
driver was clicking off laps at the speed Tyler was hammering out.
Well, things happen and we'll get them next year!
Video will be posted soon of the heats and
mains check back soon and visit Tyler's video gallery.

Sept. 30, 2006 ~ Cycleland
Speedway QRC Cup!
Tonight Tyler looks forward to being able to
let it rip as not much can be gained or lost in any of the divisions in
which he as competed for points titles this season at Cycleland.
Tyler has himself pretty well locked into 2nd in
the 250 division and 4th with "Rookie of the Year" honors in the Open
Intermediate division.
So tonight, Tyler can let it rip, let it all hang
out as he will be most likely the only driver running three divisions
chasing a chance at 3 cups.
Tyler will run the Box Stock, 250 and Open division
races tonight in an attempt to win them all!
Good Luck Tyler!
August 26th, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway Points Race #15
Tyler suffering from
headaches and not feeling up to his normal self, set out to have a great
night as the Cycleland Speedway Summer series is coming to an end very
soon.
In the 250 (intermediate)
Division, Tyler set the 6th fastest time putting him on the pole for the
trophy dash. In the Open intermediate Tyler out paced the entire
field setting fast time. This would be Tyler's first fast time in
this division. It's been pretty tough earning that spot with
Larson, Moore and Southers to compete against.
Tyler took the 250 Trophy Dash
from the pole making it look easy. In the Open intermediate he
scored 4th starting from last.
In the 250 main event Tyler
spun in turn 2 bringing a yellow. Tyler worked his way back to
about 11th at the checkered flag. Tyler's 250 chassis just hasn't been
the same since being taken out 3 weeks ago by two karts going up the
track out of control with Tyler coming full speed into the mess.
Lot can be said for taking care of your equipment if you want to go
fast. Staying out of trouble is a big part being able to really
dial in your set up.
In the Open intermediate Tyler
started 5th row inside and raced his way up to 5th place finish at the
flag.
Tyler is currently 2nd in the
250 division points and 5th in the Open Intermediate division holding
down the "Rookie of the year" in this tough talented division.

August 4th & 5th ~ Golden State
Challenge Championship
Tyler's Results:
Box Stock ~ Champion
Intermediate ~ 2nd Place
Open Intermediate ~ TBA - 7th
Place
Open Outlaw ~ TBA - approximately
18th - 20th dnf ( motor )
With Cycleland Speedway’s biggest race of the year
and a lot of money on the line, Tyler suited up and was the only driver
to run triple duty for the event. This prestigious event with its 10
year history would see a driver that was eligible to run all three
divisions being Box Stock, Intermediate and Open Outlaw divisions. Add
to it Tyler major Corporate Sponsor
Broken Bow Records of
Nashville putting up matching funds for Tyler on any and all of the
division winnings that Tyler could claim, Tyler turned up the heat
another notch as the Golden State Challenge was under way!
Tyler was back in a Box Stock to fill in for Brian
MaGahan jr. as their karts were in route for the Knoxville Nationals
being held next week. So for the first time since leaving that division
behind, Tyler sat back down and strapped in to take the car that brought
him so many victories back out for another run. The MBS motor was barrowed from Cameron Bartlett
and a fresh new motor was supplied by Steve Goodridge to be available
for use if needed.
In the Intermediate division Tyler would sport his
freshly rebuilt KTM 250 SXF motor that was way over due for rebuild as
it hadn’t been touched since being fitted to his SKE/BRE FACTORY WORKS
kart last year.
In the Open Outlaw division Tyler would be driving
his 80 hp KTM 576 thumper weighted up to the minimum required 400 lbs
kart and driver as all Open division cars would run against each other
for this event.
So as Tyler Reddick suited up for this weekend as
it was a 11 year old going against the best of the best with names like
Sean Becker, McCains, “Pistol Pete” Johnston and others. The field
would be very diverse in age with the spread being from 11 yrs old up to
36+ yrs old as the race was on to see who could claim part of the Golden
State Championship Challenge as a Champion.
The race format would be very interesting and a
challenge to claim top starting honors in each of the divisions. Friday
night’s events would determine the points leaders in each division of
racing. After establishing the top ten in each class those top drivers
would settle the final main event line ups by running a quick 3 lap
scrambles in a fight for the pole starting honors.
The Open division would pay $1,000 to win and the
Intermediate division would pay $500 to win and the Box Stock division
bringing down $250 to win. Drivers wishing to be eligible for both the
Open and Open Intermediate division money would need to run the stated
Open Outlaw division minimum weight of 400 lbs.
In the first nights rounds of points racing Tyler
emerged in the time trails by qualifying 3rd fast in Box
Stock, 3rd fast in Intermediate and 6th fast in
the stacked up 70 plus entry Open Outlaw division.
The Qualifying Main events on Friday would be
started in a full invert with the fastest drivers started last and
earning passing points for every position gained. Tyler settled into
the final nights points totals coming out with being 2nd in
Box Stock, 5th in the Intermediate and 6th in the
Open Outlaw. This placed Tyler in the A-main events for Saturday in all
three divisions he entered.
Saturday Tyler ran the 3 lap scrambles in each
division and came away with 2nd for the Box Stock, 1st
for the Intermediate and 6th for the Open Outlaw. These
finishes would be the starting positions for the final A-main events
With all the preliminary racing out of the way it
was now time to get it on and see who was going to add a Championship to
their name.
With tuning adjustments made to the Box Stock MBS
motor additional power was found and Tyler was off to the races.
Starting front row outside Tyler showed his experience by getting the
advantage on the start on a “red hot” Riley Gillingwater who’s won
several of the last few events in this division.
Wasting no time Tyler was out front in control of
the race and on his way to victory when getting held up and then
sandwiched on a couple of lappers running side by side. Seavey was able
to get by on the bottom and took over the lead. Tyler ran him back down
and made an outside move around Seavey to regain the lead. The outside
was working and would propel Tyler past any other lappers as his
rocketed off for the win. Thank you MBS, Bartlett and MaGahan for all
the help.
In the Intermediate division Tyler would have the
pole sitting next to the now 14 yr old Kyle Larson. In the opening lap
they exchanged the lead four times with lap two seeing Tyler emerge as
the leader. The race saw a couple of quick yellows negating Tyler’s
lead. With restarts and track conditions changing rapidly Tyler fell to
3rd but raced his way back to 2nd. Cameron
Bartlet took the win with Tyler finishing 2nd and Kyle Larson
3rd.
In the Open Outlaw A-main event Tyler started in
the 6th position. Tyler had to retire early with the KTM
overheating due to a coolant loss. The Open finish would still score Tyler a Open Int.
finish near 6th or 7th as that division was scored
separately.
The racing
was Awesome and the track was very fast. Tyler had a great time and put
on a great show.
Tyler can't wait for the race
to come around again next year.
June 22, 2006 ~ Cycleland Speedway
With the Cycleland speedway summer series at the half way point,
Tyler's crew set out to make a couple set up changes in quest for a
little better all a round set up. So coming into the night Tyler
would see two new set ups on both his cars.
In the 250 division during a qualifying session that was fawed with
yellows as Tyler was not able to settle into a good run as slower cars
and spins lowered his lap times. Tyler would need a good run in
the main event to salvage the night in the points effort.
In the Open intermediate Tyler set 4th fast time had a good run in the
dash and would start 3rd row outside in the main.
The 250 effort saw Tyler drive to second in the heat to place him on the
outside 2nd row for the main event. We still didn't really know
what the new setup would be like for the main so we stayed with it to
see what the changes would net us.
Tyler quickly took to the top and was very fast. He started to put
pressure on a very fast Cartwright who was in the lead. Tyler at
that point had logged the fastest lap of the cars on the track.
While making the move for the lead Tyler just about spun twice but
recovered to finish 4th. The car was loose and lacking side bite
which hopefully we can improve next week.
In the Open Intermediate the start saw the same moves out of Tyler as he
quickly went from 6th to leaning on the leader. Brian Southers entered
the picture as he was on the move to the front. A quick red saw
the field come to a stop and on the pace laps getting ready to go green
Tyler's carburetor came off for the second time this season. Mark
Bruckenstein will be making a bracket this week to end that problem.
Tyler while on the track racing put down again was announced as the
fastest lap of the cars on the track.
June 24, 2006 ~ Tyler Wins Open
Intermediate Dash over Larson...

Tyler running the top ~ and setting a fast qualifying lap
Tyler returned to Cycleland racing as he spent the last
week in Phoenix Arizona getting valuable seat time in his BBR ~ Corning
Ford ~ Oroville Ford Sponsored Spike Chassis Esslinger powered midget.
In addition, he and family had a short stop at Magic Mountain to shake
out the rollercoaster rides and have some fun after a long trip.
Tyler showed up ready to go and continued his efforts in both division
chases at Cycleland.
After qualifying 3rd fast in the open intermediate and 5th fast
in the 250 (intermediate) division, Tyler showed his speed by first
blasting his way to running first in the intermediate division dash.
After a late yellow and coming to green Tyler remained out front but
coming through turn 1 and 2 the carburetor mount boot broke and the
carburetor came loose as Tyler had to coast to a stop.
In the Open intermediate division after being denied the win in the 250
dash, Tyler would not be denied taking the win in the Open intermediate
division Dash. Starting on the 2nd row outside, Tyler quickly took
it to the top and past both Copeland and Moore in turn 1 and 2. It
took only 1 more lap for Tyler to run down Larson and take the
lead. Larson immediately move up the track to attempt to pace with
the BBR, Corning Ford ~ Oroville Ford, SKE spirited driver as Tyler
continued to pull away.
Even after a late yellow like what happened in the 250 dash, Tyler would
not be denied has he hammered out the dash win with over a 1.5 second
advantage.
When Tyler was asked what his thoughts were as he came up on Larson, he
responded with "I was thinking, Kyle get out of my way cause I'm coming
through!
Tyler went on to say that Kyle is a great driver and he hasn't had many
chances to bet Kyle as Kyle had move out of the divisions that Tyler
normally races in. Kyle has always been a little in front of me in
age, I just try to do the things he's done. "Any time anybody can
beat Kyle, your really doing something!"
In the main events, Tyler had a 3rd row start in the open intermediate
and a 5th row start in the 250 division. We fitted his KTM with a
Yamaha part to repair it for the evening. It seemed to be down on
power with the wrong part installed but it was our only option.
In the 250, Tyler was able to work his way up to 8th but couldn't power
by a couple slower cars down the straight-a-ways.

#11 ~ Tyler Reddick, Charolette and Lowell
In the Open intermediate division Tyler started 2nd row inside. On
the start Tyler got wide and Larson immediately took advantage.
Tyler caught outside lost 3 more spots before settling in and moving
forward. Tyler was finished 6th and move closer to 3rd place in
points. Brian Southers was one of the first drivers out and is
currently in 3rd place ahead of Tyler. Earlier in the race series,
Tyler suffered two dnf's in this division with a carburetor issue and a
chain coming off. Tyler hopes to contend for the 3rd place in the
championship and win "Rookie of the Year" as it looks like Kyle and
Mason will run for the championship.
Tyler doesn't count himself out of this Championship chase as he knows
he can improve and has the car to do it. Anything can happen and
winning is possible!
June 10, 2006 ~ Tyler qualifies 2nd in
250 division and 3rd in Open intermediate
Tyler once again put up great qualifying times in both divisions.
Track conditions were good but a little dry in the main events which
made for some tough racing to get to the front.
In the 250 division Tyler started in the 5th row and made a charge up to
catch the leaders and finished 3rd with Keith Bloom 4th. Bloom had
gone to the back and made a good run to salvage the night.
In the Open intermediate division Tyler raced most the night in the 7th
to 9th position. With wrecks happening in front of him, Tyler put
on a great show of avoiding being involved but slowed his forward
progress. In the closing laps coming off a yellow Tyler found
himself caught in the middle with nowhere to go and fell back. In
the last couple laps he started moving forward again but was only able
to pick off a couple more positions before running out of time.
Tyler came in 14th at the checker.
Tyler said, "the kart in front of me going in on the top looked like he
was going wreck!, so I couldn't go in on the top behind him and I
couldn't get down! so I had to go in the middle and there just wasn't
anything there!"
Tyler looks to get back at them when he returns from his Phoenix trip
this coming week. Tyler will have substitutes filling in for him
this coming week at Cycleland in both divisions. Colby Copeland
will take over for Tyler in the Open intermediate division and Kenny
Allen with take on the 250 division for Tyler.
June 03, 2006 ~ Tyler qualifies 1st in
250 division ~ 2nd in Open intermediate
Tyler stepped up his qualifying effort to out-qualify Bloom in
the 250 division and nearly came close to taking fast time in the Open
Intermediate division as well, with a very fast 2nd place timing effort
that would have beat most all the Open division.
Mason Moore had the fastest lap of the night of all divisions with a
10.9 and Tyler's effort was a 11.089.
Tyler again suffered a quick failure in his Open intermediate much like
last week. In the Dash race
the carburetor came off after a hose clamp broke, leaving Tyler coasting
to a stop on the first lap.
In the Main events, Tyler drove his SKE ~ BRE Factory Karts from 10
place starts up to 4th and 5th in the 250 & Open intermediate divisions
respectfully.
Bloom will take over as points leader but Tyler plans on giving Keith a
hard run for the championship as Tyler has nothing to loose and
everything to gain.
More on the racing later.....
Bandolero's ? ~ Chuck Lahorgue ~ LRC ~
Shasta Speedway
Looks like LRC (Lahorgue Race Cars) is going to be your one stop
shop for Bandolero's here in the north state and for that matter most
all of the western states.
Chuck has plans to take over being the dealer here in California and
tentative plans have been made to run Bandolero's at Shasta Speedway.
In addition, LRC is looking at being a complete service center for the
project as well.
For anyone who doesn't know Chuck, his quality and reputation is
excellent and has a vast knowledge of racing in most venues. Chuck
is a quality person.
Maybe and just maybe we'll see some good Bandolero racing here in the
north state.
Anyone interested should contact Chuck Lahorgue at LRC 530-241-7509 and
tell them Tyler sent you
May 26, 2006 ~ Tyler awaits next points
race
Tyler anxiously awaits the next points race at Cycleland as Medford's
Southern Oregon Speedway
was rained out this weekend. Tyler will get to see seat time in
his midget this weekend when he's not at the races taking place at Silver
Dollar Speedway.
Tyler will be attending the races this fair weekend at Chico's Silver
Dollar Speedway and taking in some fun at the fair. Shortly there after
he is scheduled to get some laps in his midget to finish out the
weekend.
Tyler is going to spend some time on a very short tight track as this
will be great preparation for the Chili Bowl venue when the day comes
that he can race there.
Tyler and friends spent some quality time with Lowell at Cycleland
Speedway learning some other type of racing. Tyler is pictured
here with Lowell getting lessons on proper gun handling and firing
techniques.

Medford's Summer Series as become questionable as Tyler has a conflict
with one of the race dates. Medford doesn't allow for a substitute
driver and with the conflict it will place Tyler out of points contention
in all three divisions not making it possible to win any championships
there this summer. With this, it's likely that this summer Tyler
and family will finally take time to do some of the family things we
haven't been able to do for several years.
Tyler will race at Medford again soon, but will not see the entire
series as it is a large commitment to not be able to contend in the
championship bid. The resources will be moved to another racing
effort to help improve Tyler's already depth of experience.
Tyler wishes to thank all the very nice people that support him at the
Medford venue. Tyler apologizes for not being able to see the
summer series through but other racing opportunities have cause a
conflict that can't be resolved.
Everyone has been so nice to the entire family when we're there in
southern 0regon at the speedway. Tyler wishes to thank Ron and
family for all they have done for him. Tyler also wishes them a great
racing season in 2006!
Thank you!
May 20, 2006 ~ Tyler takes 6th in 250 and
chain comes off in opening lap
Coming into the night at Cylceland Speedway, Tyler was in 1St
place in the 250 division and 4th in the Open Intermediates.
The night started out great as Tyler easily placed both his entries into
the trophy dashes.
To start out this season his crew chief hasn't settled for sticking with
just one set-up and has been making changes each night several
time in the effort of finding anything that could be a plus.
In the 250 dash after a gear change Tyler took from the start the lead
and led the opening 5 laps. In the closing laps a very fast Thomas
Bruckentein passed Tyler for the lead and the win. Tyler used the
entire track to find anything with better grip in attempt to hold on to
the win, but Thomas was to fast regardless.
In the main for the 250's, the gear selection was changed again and the
kart responded. Tyler drove himself up to 4th and momentarily
passed Thomas for 3rd but Thomas responded by taking 3rd right back. In
the closing laps with yellow flags and restarts, Tyler and other's made
a quick dash to the end and Tyler finished the night in 6th and holding
on to first place in points.
The points race is going to be a tough one as this division seems to be
seeing a lot of past champions staying in or moving down to compete.
Most drivers once they move on don't move back down (or go backwards) as
Keith Bloom has done. None the less, Tyler will do his very best
to continue to improve and make his bid for the title.
In the Open division, Tyler suffered a first corner of the first lap
failure as Tyler and Mason Moore came together in turn one. Tyler
coasted to a stop in in turn four and was done for the night with a very
fast kart.
Tyler will get back at it next week.
May 16, 2006 ~ Tyler re-visits Manzanita
Speedway
Tyler Reddick and family made the long trip back to Phoenix
Arizona this last week to continue accumulating seat time in his new
midget.
Prior to taking to the track Steve Stroud with the local Parker Store in
Phoenix made arrangements for Tyler to have a meeting with Dennis Woods.
At 3:30 pm Tyler sat and met with Dennis and had a long discussion about
Tyler's racing future and plans.
Tyler wishes to thank Dennis for making time to visit as Tyler really
enjoyed talking with him and receiving insightful suggestions for
Tyler's future. Dennis had some strong words of encouragement and
advise to help carry Tyler into the future.
After the meeting Tyler took to the track for 5 rounds of practice.
Each round Tyler put down about 20 laps. Getting the 100 laps in
was a real plus and is helping Tyler get the needed seat time in his
Spike Chassis / Esslinger powered midget.
After loading up Tyler and family needed to return home to get ready for
round 3 of the Cycleland Summer Series.
Thank you Dennis Woods !
May 09, 2006 ~ Team Corning Ford Announces Drivers for Summer Series
Team Corning Ford and it's newest Dealership addition Oroville
Ford Lincoln Mercury wishes to announce it's team roster for the summer
series.
"Pistol" Pete Johnston ~ Open Outlaw Division
Kyle Larson ~ Open Outlaw & Open Intermediate Divisions
Tyler Reddick ~ Open Intermediate & 250 (Intermediate) Division
Thomas Bruckenstein ~ 250 (Intermediate) Division
Benny Brown wishes the team good luck and have fun while all the
driver's want to thank Benny for his contribution to their racing
efforts!
May 06,2006 ~ Tyler takes Cycleland Opener - Wins Open Intermediate
After settling into 2nd place on the start Tyler moved to the top
groove and on the third
lap Tyler Reddick took over the lead from Josh Kehely. Never looking back and most laps
enjoying a comfortable lead, Tyler was very excited with his effort
in knocking down the Cycleland opener and his debut as a rookie this year in the open
intermediate division. Kyle Larson hustled his way to finishing second and Mason Moore came
in third. Larson should emerge as the points leader with his effort of coming
from behind and over taking Mason Moore at about the 3/4 mark of the
race.
Tyler held off charges from both of the other vets as Tyler proved to
be too much to catch on this night. The Series is sure to be highly
contested and very exciting.
In the 250 division, Tyler with a 3rd place qualifying effort then finishing 2nd in the
trophy dash and a 3rd place finish in the main event should emerge with the points lead
from the opening night. Thomas Bruckenstein won the main event in
nice fashion with Sean Martin finishing 2nd. Jacob Miller had a nice
run finishing around 5th or 6th.
In the Open Division, "Pistol" Pete Johnston took down 2nd
place to Tyler McCain. Pete was able to race his SKE Factory Kart
up to the bumper of McCain but as both were equally matched, Pete
settled in to the big picture mode and brought his kart home 2nd.
If Tyler McCain runs the entire series it's going to be very fun and
exciting to watch. "Pistol" Pete commented after the race "I hope
he is going to race the whole series! I'm looking forward to it".
More to come later with a better update. Remember to checkout
Cycleland Speedway's new website for pictures and race results including
points updates.
April 28th & 29th ~ Southern Oregon and Cycleland
After weeks of being off due to rain outs and a light schedule,
racing finally resumed this last weekend for Karts.
Tyler started the evening in Medford racing all three divisions (125,
250 and Open Int) making the dashes in 2 of the three divisions and
winning both.

Later Tyler attempted to run all three A-mains back to back but had to
sit out when he was overcome with headaches.
The following night Tyler took to Cycleland and put both his entries in
the dash by setting 3rd fast time in the 250 division and 6th fast in
his debut in the Open intermediate division. Tyler won the Open
Intermediate trophy dash with Mason Moore finishing second.
The main events saw both the 250 and the Open intermediate divisions
start 27 & 28 karts respectively. Tyler finished 8th in the 250
and 6th in the Open intermediate.
April 17th, 18th, 2006 ~ Phoenix Midget trip

Before I really get into the details of this trip, Tyler and the
Reddick Family wants to give special thanks to all of the following
people:
Steve Stroud ~ Parker Store's Phoenix location
Danny Stratton ~ Professional Midget driver
Eldora 4-Crown Nationals Champion
Jeff Stafford ~ Track Promoter at Canyon Raceway
Tammy Odom ~ Track Promoter at Manzanita
Speedway Phoenix
Mike Burkhart ~ Owners Representative of Arizona Midgets
Association
John
Godfrey ~ Midget builder
"SPIKE CHASSIS"
Marc DeBeaumont
~ DMS out of Pittsburg California
the Larson Family

Tyler Reddick ~ Danny Stratton ~ Kyle Larson

With the rain continuing to fall in Northern California
and a couple of Die-Hard Dad's with two boy's more serious about racing
than anyone could even dream..., we headed out to Phoenix, Arizona to
get our first taste of running a midget.
All the folks mentioned above were so helpful in making our very first
outing in the midget better than we could have ever expected.
Day one ~ We set out for Canyon Raceway, the track that was the
starting point for NASCAR Cup driver and open wheel racer J.J. Yeley.
J.J. started his career there and spent lots of seat time at Canyon
Raceway years ago.
Track Promoter Jeff Stafford set us up with everything we needed and
turned us loose with all the track prepping equipment and fuel.
Just turned us loose! He went over the details in operating his
water truck, fuel shed and generator and said "have at it!".
From the beginning in planning this trip things just started to fall
together. I found out on the way to Phoenix that Danny Stratton
was racing Prescott Valley the night before we would get there. We
met Danny on the last Phoenix trip back in March when we went scouting
the Phoenix scene. I called Danny on our way to Phoenix and he
agreed to stay around and spend a day with Tyler and Kyle.
We all met at the track at 8:30 and Danny had to first line me out on
proper car pre-race preparation before moving on to the boys.
Danny did an AWESOME job all day and will always be very special to us.
Danny quickly moved on to giving Tyler some instructions on proper
starting of the midget at push off. After giving Tyler
instructions, Danny moved to getting Tyler on the track. Tyler was
given instructions by me to just take it real easy, as I felt just
successfully going through starting and a few quick pace laps then
coming to the pits would be very successful if everything went
correctly.
Tyler, after a few boring pace laps, immediately went to playing with
the throttle goosing it coming out of the corners and feeling the power
of the Esslinger Motor. In just another few laps Tyler decided to
bring the midget more up to speed and feel it out.
My first question (would Tyler be intimidated?) was answered and it was
clear that Tyler was loving it! Keeping in mind that I
think Tyler is going where not many before him has gone at his age.
Tyler demonstrated excellent car control and judgment, as I would
expect, as he has never been one to be out of control.
The boys kept taking turns in the car and finished the day really
accomplishing more than any of us expected. We loaded up and
headed off to Manzanita for the next day.

Steve Stroud ~ Kyle Larson ~ Tyler Reddick @ Manzanita
Day Two ~ Manzanita Speedway was having a normal practice session
on Tuesday Night and we looked forward to having excellent track
conditions to see what the boys could do. Keep in mind that this
is a track that over the years has seen drivers like A.J. Foyt, Tony
Stewart, J.J. Yeley and many many more history making drivers take to
the track.
Most everyone, when looking at Tyler, were in complete disbelief that
little Tyler could drive a full midget. When we would say that
Tyler was going to drive, they would just look at us like...Sure!
With Kyle first taking to Manzanita and Tyler sitting at track-side all
suited up, the other racers were keeping an eye on when the little guy
was going to get in. After getting the okay from the track, Tyler
took to the wheel.
Now everyone was already blown away after watching Kyle take to the
track for the first time. Keeping in mind that they've never seen
us or our the boys before when we rolled into Manzy for practice.
We just kind of rolled in with the coach, unloaded then sat there just
looking like the "new Guy's ( who are they? )" waiting to get on the
track. Asking stupid questions like, where's the fuel sold at?
where is staging?, all the things that someone new ask.
When we put little Tyler in the midget and he went out and ran basically
identical lap times and was hustling the car around the track, many
drivers became even more impressed with our teams effort and the boys.
Tyler didn't get wheel pack time or any practice laps. He
just had to roll out on the track and go green in the middle of truns 3
and 4. I
will post a video soon and when you see it, keep in mind that these were
the only laps ever (10) at Manzy by Tyler.

When the boy's tell you they don't work on the cars, I
wouldn't believe them. They also had to have some fun at the pool!
As Tyler came off the track he was followed by several people that had
questions and positive comments about Tyler. They were blown away!
They came over and said "how old his he.., the little guy, the last one
in the car? He's got Balls and stands on it!". We chatted a
while and I let them know that it was only the second day in the midget
for Tyler and Kyle, as well as their very first time to run at
Manzanita! They couldn't believe it. Kyle had as many
positive comments as well. Mike was busy speaking to many people
as well.
Another thing they didn't know was that Tyler was under instruction from
me to not really hammer down, as they would be watching car control more
than speed. So I gave Tyler orders to drive fast, but more importantly
be under full control.
Tyler showed he could run the 300hp midget fast and in control, as he
and Kyle had nearly identical lap times as a 410 wingless sprint that
was running during practice that night. It is awesome to watch
these kids bring the midget into the corner at speeds over 85 mph
sideways and in full control right from the get go.
These two kids continue to just get it done! There training,
background and seat time give these to boy's the tools they need to
drive anything.
Always remember to put excellent help around you and great equipment and
things will turn out reall good.
Man, did we have fun!!!!
April 13, 2006 ~ Team Reddick gets ready
As we all sit around waiting for the rain to stop and tracks to
dry out, Team Reddick Racing is busy getting everything ready for this
summers up and coming series.
The time off is unusual for us, but was needed with everything going on.
With the addition of a Full Midget and Little Sister Haley making the
decision to race box this summer Dad was very busy having to get two
extra cars ready.
Here is Tyler's Midget, which he'll see seat time this coming week down
south in some closed session practices. I just have to get us out
of this winter weather and get Tyler some seat time. Tyler has
never been off more than two weeks in a row. The midget is loaded and
ready to go, as I have been stock-piling spare parts and supplies
getting ready.
Here is Tyler's new look for the up coming summer series at Medford
and Cycleland Speedways. I still have one more car to complete and
Sister Haley's will be getting new vinyl treatments as well.
I still have his 125 machine to finish getting ready. I didn't have an
extra chassis so one has been slowly being assembled. I have many other
things I had to get out of the way for some other people before I could
get to Tyler's. The original plan was to have the 125 done for the
RBO's West Coast Nationals so Tyler could compete in that division as
well.
Medford is having a play day on April 23rd with a car show scheduled
before at the Napa Auto Parts off Crater Lake Highway. You can
check out the times by going to the Southern Oregon Speedways website at
www.so-outlaws.com. Ron
Shubin has requested you to phone ahead as So. Oregon is having the same
wet spring as here in No. California and things may have to be postponed
until the area around the track is dried out.
So. Oregon's race program is scheduled to start on April 28th with their
first points race. It's a fun place to go on a Friday night!
little bit of a drive to get there, but a short sweet program with lots
of racing...! and the people are really nice.
March 2006 ~ Pistol Pete does Smoke Show at Lakeport

There is only one "Pistol" Pete !
Pete Johnston~ SKE FACTORY DRIVER puts on smoke show after winning
Lakeports Open Show.
Pete was shorted to say the least after his domination at the Red Bluff
Nationals. There Pete drove to the lead from the outside starting
position and never needed to look back as he was in complete control out
front.
It completely surprised the crowd when Pete's motor went silent coming
out of turn 4 taking the white flag.

Tyler with his "Two Eagle" Trophies:
2005 Box Stock ~ 2006 Open Intermediate
|
With the Red Bluff season officially over and the recent Winter
Series Champions crowned last Saturday, everyone was anxious for the
highly anticipated Red Bluff Nationals.
Past winners of the "Great Event" were on hand to take their shots at
repeating as Champions again. Others entered the gates as new
hopefuls to achieve the pinnacle of Outlaw Kart Racing.
Nowhere else is there dirt kart racing of this magnitude filled with the
stars of today and the past. Years and years of racing experience
filled the arena with the likes of the Beckers, Foster, Johnston,
McCains, Wolf, Larson and Reddick. You combine those names and you
will put most all of the champions with their prior wins in one arena at
one time. And this year they would all compete in a single
division together, that being the Open Outlaw division.
Tyler Reddick, yes.... Tyler Reddick would compete in 3 divisions!
He started the event with running the 250 division and the Open
Intermediate. As a last minute effort, we put him in the Open
Division too. Tyler finished the first night by being 15th in
the first round of Open Drivers. Tyler would have scored better,
but suffered from a broken frame, which led to the chain coming off a
couple different times. Tyler won the B-main leading it in a
wire-to-wire fashion. As soon as it completed, the chain came off
as he was leaving the track for the scales. In the dark, I didn't see
anything wrong with the frame, so we reset the chain and adjusted it
quickly, as he was due back on the track for the A-main. Tyler
worked his way up to 9th place before a long green flag run had him tire
and fall back a little. On a restart the chain was off and ended his
night, but he managed to still score 15th out of 32 Open drivers in the
first round. Tyler qualified 13th in his Open qualifying effort
with a 8.89 time.
On Saturday, the schedule switched to Tyler racing both the 250 and Open
Intermediate Divisions. I expected a few less notables in this
division. But at A-main event time I saw another loaded up race
with drivers that had lots of experience competing for the chance to win
their Eagle. Many drivers ran multiple divisions and the Open
intermediate was no different. Southers, Bell, Mills, Copeland,
Moore, Silverman and others would battle for the victory.
Tyler, in his
debut at Red Bluff Open Intermediate Division, Wins the National
Title and the Eagle as the "only" repeat winner of the prestigious event
in its young history!
Tyler put on an excellent show, making his presence known as he rocked
his way up to 3rd in the first nights A-main before making a mistake on
a yellow and falling back to 5th. He used two awesome moves to get
by Mills and Southers and was gaining some new respect from some older
drivers that hadn't raced against him in a couple of years.
Tyler's secret weapon KTM 576 four-stroke machine was making noise.
Tyler finished 5th in the points for the first night and would race the
A-main starting from the 3rd row inside on Sunday.
Not a bad run considering that I had to completely re-frame that kart
Saturday morning because the one we started with was broken.
Fortunately, Ted Bare had just built Tyler a spare frame for us to have
on hand in the trailer as a back-up for this coming summer season.
Tyler also had to run the 250 division on Saturday night to qualify for
the main show on Sunday. Tyler opened up with a qualifying effort
of 2nd fast time and finished the night as a 3rd best qualifier for the
main event. Shane Graham and Kyle Larson were 1 and 2 earning
their starting positions on the pole for the feature. Tyler would start
second row inside with RJ Johnson on the outside.
Sunday, Tyler's first race would be the Open Division C-main in which he
would start from the pole. I had Tyler scratch, as he had set
himself up better for the Open Intermediate race and I didn't want to
take any chances with the kart in the Open.
So we waited for the Ope |
